Semi precious stones

Feng shui - the ancient Chinese method to balance the constantly changing forces of the natural world and to create peace, harmony and prosperity in your home and family.

The five elements are water, fire, wood, metal and earth and the energies of the world flow through these to relax and energize.

Polished stones or gemstones are used to balance the energy of your home.

Little Fashion Pebbles for Jewellery

Many rocks, pebbles and stones are beautiful but if all you can find on a wet spring day in the UK is a boring brown or grotty grey, you can try polishing little rocks and pebbles or decorate them to co-ordinate with your various outfits ... but how do you incorporate them into a bracelet or necklace?

The easiest way is to purchase some thin wire from hobby shops to form a wire netting around the stones. Once this is done, the stones can be threaded onto another wire, silk threads, ribbon, leather strands or whatever you choose.
More advanced hobbyists could solder the wire but twisting the wire gently works well. Children should be supervised to ensure that there are no potentially sharp ends on the resulting jewellery.

Brighten up a dull day with family portraits

Keep the kids amused by providing them with small, flat, circular rocks and some acrylic paint ... get them to paint the face of each family member on each stone until their collection is complete. The rocks can be decorated with wool for hair!

An example of decorated pebbles.

These Decorated Pebbles are lovely!

To paint your own pebbles, thoroughly wash and dry them first then try water-based acrylic paints for bold designs. You can always seal the finished artwork with varnish for extra protection.

We are happy to add your pictures or links.

An Ancient Art

The practice of painting pebbles dates back at least a couple of millenia as can be seen from this discovery in Scotland. Not conventionally pretty but useful in a game of old celtic golf.
